Durga Temple gears up for Bhavani Deeksha relinquishment from Dec 21

Preparations are in full swing at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri as the Bhavani Deeksha relinquishment ceremony is set to take place from December 21 to 25. Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy announced that around five lakh devotees are expected to participate in the grand event.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat visited the temple on Saturday, offering prayers to Goddess Durga Devi and performing special poojas. Minister Ramanarayana Reddy, along with Endowments Department Principal Secretary S Satyanarayana and Temple Executive Officer K.S. Rama Rao, welcomed the RSS Chief and facilitated his darshan.
Vedic scholars at the Veda Ashirvachana Mandapam blessed Mohan Bhagwat, while the temple authorities honoured him with Sesha Vastram, Laddu Prasadam, and a portrait of Goddess Durga Devi.
Minister Reddy highlighted the comprehensive arrangements being made for the upcoming Bhavani Deeksha relinquishment and reiterated the government’s support to the Durga Temple authorities. He directed officials to coordinate with other departments to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
In a significant move, the Minister unveiled a special app developed by Amaravati Software Innovations. The app, available on the Play Store, provides information about facilities and arrangements for the devotees. He encouraged Bhavani devotees to use the app for a seamless experience. Later, Minister Reddy and Principal Secretary Satyanarayana reviewed the preparations and sought updates from temple officials on the progress of the arrangements.
‘Kalasha Jyothula Utsavam’ held

The grand ‘Kalasha Jyothula’ Utsavam, part of the Bhavani Deeksha relinquishment, was held on Saturday, beginning from Sivaramakrishna Kshetram at Satyanarayanapuram and concluding at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Temple atop Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada. The event was inaugurated by Durga Temple Executive Officer KS Rama Rao, attracting a large number of devotees.
The Kalasha Jyothulu Utsavam is a significant ritual marking the conclusion of the 41-day Bhavani Deeksha, celebrated with much devotion. Devotees carried holy Kalashas and lit sacred lamps (Jyothulu), symbolising their devotion to Goddess Kanaka Durga.
The procession passed through key areas like Gandhinagar, Governorpet, Police Control Room, Vinayaka Temple, and Canal Road, with cultural programs adding to the vibrancy of the event. Temple authorities ensured smooth arrangements with facilities such as drinking water, medical aid, and crowd management, while special rituals were performed to bless the devotees.
