Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayat Raj K. Pawan Kalyan inspected the ongoing road reconstruction and drinking water project works in the district on Monday, ensuring quality standards were met.
Accompanied by Minister for Excise Kollu Ravindra, MLAs Bode Prasad, Mandali Buddha Prasad, and Varla Kumar Raja, Pawan Kalyan visited Godavarru village, where roadworks worth Rs 3.75 crore are underway. The Deputy Chief Minister was briefed by Panchayat Raj Commissioner Krishna Teja and engineers on the progress and quality of the work.
Pawan Kalyan also reviewed the Kankipadu-Godavarru-Royyuru road reconstruction, a project initiated after the road’s poor condition was highlighted during the Palle Panduga programme. The five-kilometre stretch was rebuilt with SDRF funds and serves over 21,000 people. The remaining works are expected to be completed by Sankranti. During his inspection, Pawan Kalyan personally checked the quality of the road by directing workers to dig a half-metre deep section to examine the mix of gravel and bitumen. He emphasized that public money should be spent efficiently and without compromise on quality.
The Deputy Chief Minister also inspected drinking water projects at Mallayapalem village, where repairs are ongoing in 44 villages. Responding to concerns raised by Gudivada MLA Venigandla Ramu, Pawan Kalyan sanctioned Rs 3.80 crore for urgent repairs.
