Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayat Raj, K. Pawan Kalyan, has appealed to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to take steps for the construction of a railway overbridge (ROB) in Pithapuram. Pawan Kalyan met the Railway Minister in New Delhi on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister highlighted the urgent need for an overbridge on the Samarlakota-Uppada road within Pithapuram municipal limits and urged the Railway Minister to approve its construction.
Pawan Kalyan also discussed various railway projects planned for Andhra Pradesh with the Minister. He informed Vaishnaw that the state government has identified the need for an ROB at Level Crossing No. 431, located at Railway Km 640/30-32 on the Samarlakota-Uppada Road in Pithapuram town. The construction of the ROB is seen as crucial to resolving persistent traffic congestion and improving road connectivity in the region. Pawan Kalyan further requested the Railway Minister to approve the project under the Prime Minister’s ‘Gati Shakti’ programme.
In addition, the Deputy Chief Minister asked the Railway Minister to provide halts for four express trains at Pithapuram, considering the heavy influx of devotees to the famous Sripada Vallabha Swamy temple. He specifically requested halts for the Nanded-Sambalpur Nagavali Express, Nanded-Visakha patnam Superfast Express, Visakhapatnam-Sainagar Shirdi Express, and the AP Express (Visakhapatnam-New Delhi).
Pawan Kalyan also raised the issue of the people of Latur in Maharashtra, who have requested a direct train service to the pilgrim city of Tirupati. He urged the Railway Minister to consider these appeals and take a positive decision at the earliest.
