District Collector P Uday Kumar has said that proposals would be submitted to Wildlife Conservation Board to establish an eco-sensitive zone around the reserve forest in the Amrabad Tiger Reserve.
He discussed with various development works with officials of the forest, R and B, Irrigation, agriculture, mining, panchayat raj engineering officials and other officials at the collectorate here on Thursday.
The meeting discussed submission of the proposals to establish eco-sensitive zone and the development works to be initiated under the aegis of the various government departments.
He asked the officials of the concerned government departments to come prepared for the next meeting to be held next week with full information on the guidelines pertaining to sensitize zones around national horticulture gardens and wildlife forest and development activities initiated in a radius of 10 km.
Development programmes to be initiated in eco-sensitive zone limits should get approval of the district committee, he said.
District Forest Officer Rohit Gopidi that a wildlife conservation strategy was formulated at a meeting held on Nov4, 2020. As per various provisions of the Environmental Conservation Act 1986 land in a radius of 10 km around the wildlife sanctuary has been notified as eco-sensitive. He said that guidelines have been issued for location of the eco-sensitive zones. He explained the mandals and villages coming under the purview of the eco-sensitive zone around Amrabad reserve forest.
He explained the measures to be initiated to conserve the tigers and other wild life in the Tiger Reserve Forest, he said.
Mining activities, establishing units that pollute air, water and earth, road widening, erection of electric fence have been prohibited in the zone.
However, he said that agriculture and allied activities are permitted in the zone.
Panchayat Raj EE Damodar Rao, agriculture assistant director Kanaka Raju, R and B divisional engineer Nagalakshmi, minining and irrigation officials and others took part.
