ED sleuths dig into Kavitha’s phones

Sleuths of the Enforcement Directorate in New Delhi on Tuesday reportedly examined the phones produced previously by MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha.

As part of the probe into the Delhi liquor scam, the ED officials opened the phones in the presence of her legal advisor Soma Bharat, whohad deputised for Kavitha.
The ED had written a letter to Kavitha on Monday, asking her to attend or send a representative to open the phones.

Kavitha had handed over nine phones used by her to the ED on March 21.

During probe into the Delhi liquor scam, the ED found that Kavitha had changed 10 phones and had used two SIMs. Six phones with a particular SIM and four phones with another SIM were found to have been changed by her.

The ED had accused 36 people, including Kavitha, of changing 70 phones during the scam.

The ED seized a mobile phone from Kavitha on March 11. While questioning her in the evening on that day, they had sent her driver home and brought the phone.The ED then asked about the 10 phones mentioned in the remand report submitted in the special court.

Kavitha said that she had not destroyed them and that they were with her. She stated that it was only when she had come for questioning that she was ordered to bring them. Kavitha took the phones to the ED office. Now all the 11 phones used by Kavitha are in the hands of the ED.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that three officers, along with investigating officer Joginder, and female officer Bhanupriya, mainly asked questions about phone conversations and messages. Along with Kavitha, Sarath Reddy, Abhishek Boinapalli, Buchibabu etc. also were questioned about their changing phones.

The ED officials reportedly collated the information in all the changed phones and inquired about the Delhi liquor scam.

Kavitha said that she had not changed phones intentionally and that her cook, her party colleagues, and her co-sister-in-law were also using her phones and that she had not destroyed any of the phones used by her.
