District Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh has said that all arrangements have been made for conducting polling tomorrow in the district.
The Collector inspected the polling equipment distribution centre on the campus of the Government Junior College and monitored the dispatch of equipment to various polling stations.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the polling would begin at 7 am in 1744 polling stations in the district. He said that there are seven Assembly segments in the district which were divided as 193 sectors to conduct elections and EVMs and VVPATs were dispatched to the respective polling stations.
Collector Prasanna Venkatesh said that over 16,000 security personnel and four thousand district police have been deployed on polling duty. The APSRTC provided buses to take the election staff and equipment to the respective polling stations, he stated.
“On May 13, at 5:30 am, a mock polling will be conducted in the polling stations to check the polling equipment and the polling begins at 7 am across the district.  Two EVMs will be kept ready at Sector Officers as stand-by to be used if any EVMs develop technical trouble during the polling,” the Collector said.
If any EVM gives trouble in any polling station during the polling, within 20 minutes a new EVM would be installed in the place of the troubled EVM, the Collector made it clear.
“There are 415 problematic polling stations in the district and live telecasting has been provided to the polling stations to monitor the polling process constantly,” he added, stating that a live webcasting facility has been provided to 1069 polling stations.
The Collector said that 15,615 voters used the postal voting facility and 896 voters used the home voting facility in the district. Collector Prasanna Venkatesh called upon voters to exercise their franchise in the election.
