Standing for the belief that dressing up is all about looking your best in your own skin, entrepreneur, and designer Surabhi Chopra— a luxury ethnic-wear brand launched in 2017, Surabhi Chopra Label, strives to emulate the principle of bringing out the best in oneself by endorsing confidence and individuality.

“I embarked on my fashion journey at the age of twenty-two, starting in a small room in my own house. I didn’t have prior experience in the fashion industry but it was my passion. So after completing a commerce degree, I made a complete career switch. As the label grew, I moved studios, constantly scaling up the brand and in just five years, I am glad that it has become synonymous with luxury wedding wear in India and overseas.” She takes pride in herself being a ‘Made in India’ luxury label. All the pieces in her collections are mystique; fully handcrafted and detail-oriented. All embroideries and embellishments ensembles have multiple hues that integrate both traditional and current time trends.

She continues on her latest collection now, “In the quiet serenity of a moonlit night, beneath the twinkling chandeliers of a regal palace, a princess danced, her ethereal elegance weaving a magical narrative that held all in awe. ‘Chandni Raat’ is a story told from the heart. It embodies the beauty of moonlit nights and translates that essence into luxurious fabrics. The collection has been created keeping in mind the brides of today – an amalgamation of contemporary cuts with timeless embroideries.”

The collection is inspired by the mesmerising allure of moonlight. The lehengas are crafted with silken fabrics and luminescent embellishments that ripple with grace and glisten with every move. The color palette – a harmony of twilight blues, ethereal gold, and romantic pastels – paints an elegant story of love under the gleaming sky. “It is also a modern take on bridal wear. It is fresh, vibrant, and shimmers like a thousand stars. Each lehenga is a canvas of organza and net, meticulously adorned with finely-cut glass beads, zari, tassels, crystals, and 3D sequins, creating an aesthetic of bling that mirrors the shimmer of a moonlit night and the sparkle of chandeliers. The artisanal touch of the skilled karigars is intricately woven into every thread, bringing to life the enchantment of a moonlit night and the allure of an elegant princess.”

Currently, pastels are finding their way into all wedding collections. From powder blues to lilacs, pastels are one of the favourite trends in wedding outfits this year. They lend a very elegant and contemporary look to the bride. Pastels are a great canvas for vibrant jewellery as well. Besides this, handcrafted is having its day in the sun. Wedding outfit trends this year are all about hand-done surface ornamentation and intricate hand-done embroidery. Supple fabrics like chanderi, organza, silks, etc. are being accentuated with finely-cut glass beads, zari, tassels, crystals, 3D sequins, and many other traditional ornamentation arts from India. These two trends have taken the wedding industry by storm.

Moreover, “First and foremost the silhouette is very important. I would strongly recommend taking the time to try different silhouettes and then choosing the one that fits your body type. Talk to the designer and choose colours and fabrics that work for you and your destination. While it is great to follow trends, it is always better to choose something that would look good on you. Besides this, custom-made-to-order is the way to go! Once you have chosen the outfit, place the order in your size to ensure that the outfit fits you well.”
