West Godavari district Collector C Nagarani advocated the development of the industrial sector in the district and stressed the need to encourage enthusiastic entrepreneurs. The District Industrial and Export Promotion Committee (DIEPC) meeting was held here presided over by Collector Nagarani on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, The Collector said that the industrial sector in the district should be bolstered and expanded. Industries are the lifeline of the economic progress of the district, she said, voicing that the district should be brought on the path of industrial development.
She said that there are 45 hazardous industries in the district and the industries should thoroughly be inspected and a report submitted. “Out of 171 applications received from November 24, 2023, to July 18, 2024, under the single desk policy, 164 applications have been accepted and three applications were rejected while the remaining four applications are yet to be examined and approved,” she stated.
The Collector also emphasized the need to encourage subsidized loans under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme, advocating to create full awareness among people about the opportunities to conduct marketing through the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
Collector Nagarani said that ONTC is the easiest way to sell the produced goods. According to the Industrial Development Policy (IDP) 2015-20, 2020-23, 2023-27, a subsidy of Rs.2.21 crore has been approved for 66 units for General, OBC, the category, she disclosed, adding that the committee has approved the release of the amount of subsidy related to investment subsidy, interest subsidy, power cost reimbursement and sales tax reimbursement.
“The bankers should cooperate to provide financial incentives to those who want to enter the industrial sector. In particular, the SC and the ST entrepreneurs should be encouraged to grow as aspiring new entrepreneurs. If there are any pending applications related to the promotion of industries, they should be completed immediately,” the Collector told the bankers, highlighting the need to strengthen the industrial sector in the district contribute to the economic development of the district and provide employment to the unemployed youth and encourage entrepreneurs.
General Manager of the Industries Department, Mangapati Rao explained the related details to the Collector in the meeting and the Collector reviewed the issues with the officials of the concerned departments. A host of officials including K Gangadhar, MVS Prasad, Lead Bank Manager A Nagendra Prasad and EE K Venkateswara Rao were among those who attended the meeting.
