Encouraging youngsters’ exemplary contributions and building trust, Raj Bhavan invites nominations for the Governor’s Awards for Excellence 2024. This marks the first-ever initiative in the country by Raj Bhavan, based on the idea of Governor Jishnu Dev Varma.
Addressing the media at Raj Bhavan on Friday, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Burra Venkatesham, said these awards will recognise individuals, institutions, organisations and trusts within Telangana for their contribution over the past five years.
He announced that the awards will be presented in four categories: Environment protection, Welfare of physically challenged (Divyangan), Sports & Games, and Culture. Nominations will be carefully reviewed by a special selection jury, including K Padmanabhaiah, chairman of the Court of Governors of ASCI, and others.
Venkatesham stated that awardees will receive Rs 2,00,000, a citation, and a medal from the Governor and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on the Republic Day, January 26, 2025. He noted that applications can be submitted online at governor.telangana.gov.in or sent offline to the Principal Secretary.
Venkatesham concluded by highlighting that Raj Bhavan sees this programme as a people-inclusive initiative promoting environmental protection and announced that Governor Jishnu Dev Varma is launching this first-ever initiative himself and inviting others to join.
