Ensure daily wage of Rs 300 for NREGS workers: NTR Collector‘Field level staff should work with proper planning’

District Collector Dr G Lakshmisha has stated that NREGS workers must receive a daily wage of ?300 as part of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. He instructed field-level officials and staff to execute work with a proper plan and to ensure that workers are paid the correct amount. The Collector held a teleconference on Friday with the Additional Rural Development Officers (ARDOs), Municipal Commissioners and MPDOs to discuss the NREGS scheme, Solid Waste Management (SWM) Centres, pension distribution and other matters.
During the meeting, Dr Lakshmisha highlighted the need for a clear understanding of work marking and muster roll procedures. He urged officials to provide proper training to field assistants, technical assistants and other staff to ensure that the workers receive ?300 per day. He emphasised that strong supervision is crucial to achieving goals. The Collector warned that negligence in duty will not be tolerated and that disciplinary action will be taken if necessary.
He also stressed the importance of ensuring the smooth functioning of the 264 solid waste processing centres (SWM centres) in 286 village panchayats. For the 22 panchayats without such a facility, steps should be taken to establish them. He instructed that any necessary repairs be completed promptly and these centres should be brought into operation. All centres should be connected by roads, fenced and equipped for vermi-seeding, she added.
Dr Lakshmisha stressed the need for every village panchayat to have at least one CLAP Mitra for every 1,000 people. He also stressed the importance of implementing the ‘Swarnandhra-Swachhandhra’ programme in all panchayats and ensuring 100 per cent wet and dry waste collection. Efforts must be made for awareness camps, segregation of waste, and making bins available for public use. Besides, the Collector directed the completion of household geotagging and data integration as part of the household database survey.
The Collector instructed that pension distribution for the state government’s ‘NTR Bharosa’ scheme should begin promptly at 6 AM, in accordance with State guidelines and election conduct rules. Efforts should be made to complete the distribution on the first day itself. Dr Lakshmisha also announced that ?98.20 crore has been released for 2,29,913 pensions in the district.
The teleconference was attended by Vijayawada Municipal Commissioner Dhyanachandra HM, DRDA PD K Srinivasa Rao, DWAMA PD A Ramu, ARDOs K Chaitanya, K Madhuri, K Balakrishna, Municipal Commissioners, MPDOs and others.
