The Eastern Power Distribution Company Ltd. (EPDCL) is set to become the first distribution company in India to champion Mission LIFE, aligning with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s commitment to the Union Government’s initiative. The company plans to implement a series of initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable living practices and promoting environmental conservation, according to Prudhvi Tej, Chairman and Managing Director of EPDCL.
Headquartered in Visakhapatnam, EPDCL’s initiatives will focus on reducing waste, conserving water and energy, adopting renewable energy sources, and promoting energy-efficient appliances certified by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). In collaboration with BEE, the Ministry of Power, and the Andhra Pradesh State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM), EPDCL is developing a comprehensive communication strategy to empower consumers in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, East Godavari, and West Godavari districts to make informed choices.
Recently, EPDCL launched the Mission LIFE promotional poster, created by BEE’s Media Adviser Wing for Southern States and Union Territories. This milestone event was attended by key officials, including Praveen Gupta, Member of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Milind Deora, Secretary of BEE, and senior officials from the Andhra Pradesh power sector, including Chandram, Bhaskar, and Kumar Reddy.
With the support of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, ongoing monitoring by Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar, and guidance from Special Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, along with the financial and technical backing of BEE and cooperation from consumers, EPDCL aims to enhance energy efficiency and expand renewable energy sources. These efforts are expected to result in a reliable and high-quality power supply for consumers.
“We are fully committed to leveraging Mission LIFE to drive sustainable practices, stimulate economic growth, and provide exceptional power supply across the region,” stated Prudhvi Tej. “By empowering consumers to adopt sustainable lifestyles, we will contribute to a cleaner, greener future while enhancing the economic vitality of EPDCL.”
Milind Deora praised the Andhra Pradesh government’s dedication to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for sustainable development, highlighting the state’s commitment to promoting energy efficiency and the adoption of renewable energy.
