Exclusive – “Started with pain, ending with stardom,” says Shama Sikander

So many years in the industry, the babe of B-town Shama Sikander is coming up with a moving short-film titled Mombae — totally centered around a mother’s emotional availability towards her child. In an exclusive interview for The Pioneer’s web-desk, Prem Aggan fame shares, “The director already told me that this short film is going to be an ode to his mother, that poignant point made me seal the deal for my next short-film. I also have had my intimate moments with my mother, so could completely relate to his feelings.”

She’s so sure that this short-film is going to work; since she is very well aware how a mother teaches the kids lessons of love. She’s been there, done that! At some given point of her life, her mother shaped her conscience too. She continues, “If I go back in time, my mother was really ill. As the reverse psychology goes, I took care of her too as my own child. As soon as I started stepping in those shoes, a motherly instinct touched me at a very young age. I can’t forget those days while she was supposed to seek her worth, she was rather searching her heart in us kids.”

Talking a little about her journey in the showbiz from a long time, now officially married and looking to take her life ahead in the most optimistic ways with a new announcement — “I am a fortunate actress who is always approached for central characters and not supporting roles. Not that, supporting cast isn’t the paramount, I have much more in the making. When I look back at my struggling days, knocking on producers’ doors and receiving a very unpleasant experience: it wasn’t a good feeling. That made me manifest a whim which has turned true! I own a production house of my own, it’s my turn to open the doors for talented artists who come to Mumbai. Started with suffering, ending it with stardom.”

Her upcoming project is a gesture of respect for all the mothers who preserve their tears for the nurturing of their little ones. Directed by Saumitra Singh, Mombae hopes to give all of us with a lot of emotional health and not withholding a mother’s love for her child.
