The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) Task Force appointed by the Commissioner of Food Safety, conducted inspections at three separate locations in Jubilee Hills on Thursday and found expired food items.
Among these inspections, the team visited 36 Downtown Brew Pub, where they discovered expired food items, including Sneha chicken, Done’s Button mushroom, Hoisin sauce and Knorr chicken saucing powder worth Rs 4,000 and they were quickly discarded.
The officials also found semi-prepared food items stored in the refrigerator without proper labeling and covering. Notices were issued regarding open dustbins found without lids, and the absence of medical fitness certificates for food handlers with the Food Business Operator (FBO).
The Task Force also conducted inspections at Makau Kitchen & Bar in Jubilee Hills, where expired food items, such as Sneha chicken, Bull Dog veg and fruit sauce, Mala’s orange marmalade, Tiparos fish sauce, Kewpie mayonnaise, misbranded cashew packets and fungus-infected cashews worth Rs 4,970 were discovered in the storeroom and thrown away.
 Additionally, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items were found stored together in a single fridge without proper labeling and lids. The officials issued notices concerning live cockroaches found in the storage area, and to fix the broken tiles near the roti-making bhatti area.
The officials also inspected Naturals Icecream in Jubilee Hills, where icecream stored in steel containers inside the refrigerator lacked proper labeling. Additionally, icecream cones stored in steel containers also lacked proper labeling along with medical fitness certificates for food handlers were also unavailable. A notice was issued, as the FSSAI licence was not displayed inside the premises during the inspection.
