The Vijayawada CCS police in NTR district have successfully arrested the individuals who extorted money by impersonating police officers and recovered Rs 25,57,000 from them.
On December 15, 2024, a man from Jaggaiahpet approached the Satyanaraya napuram Police Station, reporting that he worked as a clerk in a gold shop in Jaggaiahpet. He explained that, as per his employer’s instructions, he frequently travelled to Chennai and Nellore to buy gold, which he would then craft and sell.
On the same day, an employee from the gold shop in Jaggaiahpet lodged a complaint at Satyanarayanapuram Police Station, stating that two persons, impersonating police officers, had robbed him. He explained that on December 11, he had taken money from his employer to buy gold and had booked a train to Chennai. Missing the train, he opted to travel by car to Vijayawada. However, two unknown individuals, dressed in khaki pants and white T-shirts, stopped his car. They claimed to be police officers, threatened him, and demanded to see his bag. After forcibly taking the bag, they told him they would show it to the authorities and left. When they did not return, the car driver, noticing the complainant’s rising blood pressure, took him to a hospital in Jaggaiahpet, where he later filed a complaint.
Following the complaint, the police registered a case and transferred the investigation to the CCS police. Under the guidance of Police Commissioner SV Rajashekhar Babu and Crime DCP K Thirumaleswara Reddy, with the support of Crime ADC M Rajarao, ACP Venkateshwarlu, and CCS Inspector P Srinivas, a special team was formed to investigate the matter. The team gathered technical evidence and apprehended the accused.
On Thursday, the CCS police arrested four individuals near a house in Bapunagar on BRTS Road and took them into custody for questioning. The accused were identified as Chegu Pardasai (32) from Seetharampuram, Vijayawada; Patan Subhani Khan (45) from Vinchipet, Vijayawada; Pratipati Shanti (45) from Banunagar, BRTS Road, Vijayawada; and Sheikh Hazruddin @ Chotu (34) from Old RR Pet, Vijayawada (a rowdy-sheeter). Gulluru Vamsi Krishna Raju (32) from Ibrahimpatnam, Vijayawada, remains absconding.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Chegu Pardasai had learned from the complainant, Ram Krishna, that he had missed the train and was travelling by car. Pardasai, Khan, and Raju, dressed in khaki pants, white T-shirts, and brown shoes, intercepted the car near Kuddu’s Nagar.

They stopped the vehicle, pretended to be police officers, and threatened the complainant, demanding to know where the money had come from. They took his bag containing Rs 25,57,000 and a mobile phone, telling him they would show it to the authorities. They then drove the car to Prabhas College, where they stopped, fled with the bag and mobile phone, and disposed of the phone in a nearby canal, fearing it would lead to their arrest.
On December 20, 2024, the police apprehended the accused and recovered the Rs 25,57,000. One of the accused, Gulluru Vamsi Krishna Raju, is still absconding.
The Police Commissioner and other officials commended the CCS police for solving this critical case in a short time.
