Eyebrows raised over 150 teachers getting best teacher awards

At least 150 teachers belonging to Nirmal district secured the best teacher awards. It led to people raising their eyebrows over the yardstick applied to select the best teacher award.
Several teachers were skeptical about the selection of the best teacher for presenting the award.  The academicians wonder what is so special about Nirmal district.
Even the District Collector expressed surprise on seeing the long list of the best teacher awardees.
Some students’ unions wondered how was it possible that such a large of teachers securing best teacher awards. They have complained to the Collector seeking action against the teachers who are involved in the illegal business of Bitcoins. Besides the teachers, they urged the Collector to order probe into the activities of the District Education Officer. The DEO selected teachers for awards.
The strength of teachers working in Nirmal district does not exceed 2,000. Like every year, this year also best teachers were selected from mandals of the district. Selecting as many as 150 teachers for the award is fuelling several doubts in the minds of the people. In other district, the number of best teacher awardees did not exceed 50. However, the number  of the award winners from Nirmal district is 150.
The academicians have been questioning the authorities about the yardstick applied to select the best teacher awardees. |The students’ union leaders feel that the Collector and the DEO owe an explanation for this.
 In Adilabad district, 70 teachers received the award, while 40 each selected from Mancherial and Nizamabad districts for the honour.
The Collector was also understood to have questioned the rationale behind selecting such a large number of teachers for presenting the award.
Several teachers and students’ unions leaders seek probe into the issue and take action against the guilty.
