The sequel to Khichdi: The Movie (2010) is called Khichdi 2. The film will debut on ZEE5 on February 9. With unexpected cameos by Farah Khan and Pratik Gandhi, important roles were played by Supriya Pathak, Rajeev Mehta, Anang Desai, Vandana Pathak, Jamnadas Majethia, Kirti Kulhari, Anant Vidhaat Sharma, Reyaansh Vir Chaddha, and Flora Saini. Actor Jamandas recently spoke with us exclusively about his newest role, Khichdi 2, as well as a host of other topics.
“Khichdi 2 has received a resoundingly good reception. I am happy with the result, especially since it struck a chord with fans of Khichdi that go back 20 years. We were deeply moved by their cordial greeting and enthusiastic responses. The love and gratitude we got were quite encouraging, as family comedies like ours are becoming less and less common in today’s movie scene. This time, the quantity of memes created by the viewers really caught our attention! Not only did we witness the usual family-friendly audience, but we also observed a considerable number of young people enjoying the movie. Seeing that the film has something to adore for every generation was incredibly wonderful. We were pleasantly surprised to see the film resonate with a wide range of people, as we had no idea.”
The leading actor goes on to say, “I don’t think there should be any adjustments made because the movie is already well-liked by audiences. They adore the writing, the dialogue, the insanity, and the brilliance that underlies it all. We may make people laugh because of the reasoning behind personalities like Praful and Himanshu. They often appear to be making sense from their point of view, but when you watch them in action, they are simultaneously humorous and stupid. The film’s timeless quality is what makes it so special and shouldn’t be altered. It has a timeless characteristic that people find compelling; therefore, changing it would be illogical.”
Lastly, he says, “Khichdi has changed over time, from its first television premiere to its current existence on websites like YouTube and its broad appeal in meme culture. Its current status as the most popular comedy brand on social media is a testament to both its nostalgic appeal and the enormous influence of young people’s memes. The cast’s craziness and inventiveness have greatly contributed to the show’s continued success. Khichdi never fails to enthrall viewers with its charm and timeless appeal, whether it’s through its remarkable adaptation to the dynamics of social media or its brief creative reels that spontaneously make people chuckle.”
