‘Family Doctor’ pilot project successful in Eluru: DMHO

District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) Dr B Ravi here on Sunday said that the ‘Family Doctor’ programme was successfully implemented in Eluru district as a pilot project from October 21.

He said that so far, 482 YSR Village Clinics in 28 mandals and 457 Family Physician Clinics were organised in the district and medical services were provided to 37,613 people. Also, 418 schools were visited and 122 anaemic children were identified. As many as 296 people who are in unconscious condition will be examined and better treatment will be given to them.

Similarly, 17 people with oral cancer, nine people with breast cancer, 24 people with cervical cancer, four people with TB, (Tuberculosis), 8,987 people with high blood pressure (BP), 7,379 people with diabetes (sugar), and medical assistance was provided to the patients. Medical tests were also conducted for 1,764 pregnant women and 1,117 infants, he informed.

Dr Ravi said, “As many as 121 anaemic people are being given medical services and awareness about nutrition. Medical tests are being conducted at every house and their health information is being digitised. Digital health ID is being issued to the deserving poor as part of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission,”.

Dr Davidu, Medical Officer, Chataparru PHC, said that people in rural areas are getting better medical services at their homes through the ‘Family Doctor’ brought by the government. The family doctor system is very useful for those who cannot go long distances for medical treatment and the poor. The government has appointed two doctors in each PHC, he added.

The staff including 104 mobile units along with the doctor and Asha workers are conducting medical tests in this concept. Similarly, for the continuation of medical services for those who have received medical treatment under Aarogyasri, they are going to the homes of those who are unable to walk due to paralysis and are unable to walk due to nerve weakness. As a part of this, on those days from 9.00 am to 1 pm OP is conducted at the secretariat, and from noon they go to Anganwadi centers and schools and conduct medical services.
