The sacrifice of Amaravati’s farmers, who gave up their land without any selfish motive, is priceless and unmatched, said Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Ponguru Narayana.

Speaking at the relaunch of Amaravati development works on Friday, the Minister expressed heartfelt gratitude to the farmers who contributed immensely to the capital’s development. He described their selfless act as an inspiring chapter in the nation’s history.

Recalling the initial launch of Amaravati a decade ago, Narayana noted that it began under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed happiness that the relaunch was also happening under the same leadership.

He pointed out that, after the state’s bifurcation, it took just one call from then Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for 29,373 farmers from 29 villages to voluntarily hand over 34,000 acres of land within 58 days—without a single legal dispute. “Such a feat has no parallel in the country,” he remarked.

From 2014 to 2019, projects worth Rs 41,000 crore were initiated in Amaravati, of which works amounting to nearly Rs 9,000 crore were completed. However, the past five years saw a complete halt due to the previous government’s negligence, he alleged.

Reaffirming the ruling coalition’s commitment, the Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Amaravati will be completed within three years, with a clear and concrete plan. “We will build a world-class People’s Capital that future generations can be proud of,” he said.

Minister Narayana also thanked Prime Minister Modi, Chief Minister Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, all dignitaries present, farmers from the capital region, and citizens from across the state who attended the event.
