My father passed away in 1994, which was a huge shock for us. He was a great actor, having worked in nearly 280 films, and had made his mark with his exceptional dialogue delivery and acting performance. We were at a loss about what to do, whom to approach, and how to lead the family forward. While we may not have had many interactions with him, we always knew he deeply loved us. My brother was supposed to leave for the USA, but due to our father’s sudden demise, he decided not to go.
Senior actor Nagesh’s wise words
At that time senior actor Nagesh came to my house. “The history of Rao Gopal Rao ends today and the phone in your house rings from tomorrow onwards, I will change my name. You have to learn practicality from now on, and you concentrate on your study and work,” said Nagesh to my brother Kranthi. Actually, it’s a great saying from him. Now, my mother has taken over the house and is looking after everything.
Rebuilding life post father’s death
After my father’s passing, life felt empty, and I found myself in a state of confusion. I had applied for a course in live action and animation at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in California. I was accepted into the program for Hollywood photography, but I chose not to go. Suddenly, life seemed void, and I distanced myself from photography. I spent my time aimlessly, hanging out with friends and wandering around the streets of Chennai. I didn’t know what direction to take after my father’s death, and for two years, I remained idle.
