FCI to sell wheat and rice in open market

Chandra Shekhar Joshi, General Manager, Food Corporation of India, Regional Office, Vijayawada said that the Government of India has decided to release wheat and rice in the open market through the ‘Open Market Sale Scheme’ (Domestic) in order to stabilise the retail prices of wheat/atta and rice across the country.

He explained that in order to check the increasing price trend of rice and wheat, it was decided to offload 25 LMT of Rice and 50 LMT of wheat under OMSS (D), accordingly, 2 LMT of wheat to be offered in the weekly e-auctions by FCI.

Chandra Sekhar Joshi said that the Food Corporation of India, Regional Office, Amaravati is offering a quantity of 5000 metric ones of Wheat and 13200 metric ones of Rice under OMSS (D) through e-auction to be held on August 23 (Wednesday). As on date 760866 MTs of Rice and 10703 MTs of wheat is available with FCI, Andhra Pradesh.

In addition to the above, a quantity of 840000 MTs of rice available with the State government under the Central Pool in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

In order to participate in E-auction the EMD amount has to be credited through electronic mode in the favour of GM, FCI, Regional Office, Amaravati before 6 PM of the preceding Monday (21.08.2023).

Chandra Sekhar Joshi explained that for wheat against one PAN, a buyer can bid only 100 metric ones of Wheat throughout the country provided the buyer has valid GST registration in that particular state and valid FSSAI licence as on the date of publishing the tender.

Interested flour millers/atta chakki processors and manufacturers of wheat products may contact M-Junction at www.valuejunction.in/fci for further registration and participation in E-auction.

With respect to Rice, traders can participate and a buyer can bid 1000 MTs of Rice. He added that the Reserve Price for FRK (fortified rice kernels) Rice is Rs 2973 per quintal and for non-FRK Rice the Reserve Price is Rs 2900 per quintal.
