A bureaucratic reshuffle post elections is bound to cause an upheaval should there be a regime change. With some surveys suggesting an edge for the Congress, whose leaders have already predicted a toofan in Telangana, there are undercurrents of fear among certain sections of the babudom that foresee a complete recast which could turn the administration topsy-turvy. Some of the presently ‘powerful’ babus at the top levels could be effectively demoted, while advisors and others offered sinecure may be removed unceremoniously. No wonder, bureaucratic circles, with palpable political leanings, are discussing who will stay, who will be probed, and who will get brownie points. Young bureaucrats, especially those who had not been given postings, are reportedly in touch with the Congress brass, including CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka and TPCC chief Revanth Reddy. Bureaucrats awaiting posting as Collectors are also eager to jump on the bandwagon. Bureaucrats at the middle and lower levels are keenly anticipating a rejig, while those at top see a comfortable win for the Bharat Rashtra Samithi. All told, by the next week we will get to know which section got it right.
