The 75th Indian Constitution Day was celebrated with great fervour in NTR and Krishna districts, with a series of events aimed at honouring the Indian Constitution and raising awareness about its core values. These programmes underscored the Constitution’s pivotal role in shaping India’s democratic framework and protecting the rights of its citizens.
At a special ceremony held at the NTR district collectorate in Vijayawada, District Collector Dr G Lakshmisha administered the oath to district-level officers and employees. Prior to the oath-taking, Collector Lakshmisha paid a heartfelt tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Constitution. NTR District Police Commissioner SV Rajasekhar Babu also paid floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar and participated in the pledge ceremony.
In Krishna district, Collector DK Balaji marked the occasion by participating in the Constitution Day event at the collectorate in Machilipatnam. He highlighted Dr Ambedkar’s crucial role in drafting the Constitution, acknowledging his invaluable contribution to India’s democratic ethos. Constitution Day was also observed in all government offices across both districts.
Public gatherings, seminars, and cultural programmes were organised in both districts to underscore the Constitution’s significance in ensuring justice, equality, and freedom for all. Educational institutions played an active role, with students delivering speeches, essays, and skits centred around the values enshrined in the Preamble and the fundamental duties of citizens.
A special event, a Mock Parliament session, was held at the ZP High School in Nunna, where students discussed the significance of the day and the sacrifices made by the framers of the Constitution. Organised by the school’s Social Science Department and supervised by Headmaster Vazrla Bhupal Reddy, the event aimed to inspire students to uphold democratic and secular values.
Additionally, the Department of English, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at Andhra Loyola Institute of Engineering and Technology (ALIET), organised a grand celebration of National Constitution Day. The day’s events reflected a collective effort to deepen public understanding of constitutional values and their practical application in daily life.
