Fill 24,000 vacant teacher posts under Mega DSC: Krishnaiah

Must read

After the announcement of Mega DSC by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, R. Krishnaiah, the President of the National BC Welfare Association, urged the Chief Minister to fill the 24,000 posts under Mega DSC.
Apart from filling the 24,000 posts under Mega DSC, Krishnaiah urged the Chief Minister to consider some of their demands regarding vacancies decided by unions of the unemployed, BC unions, and Upadhyay Sanghas and fill up as per vacancies available.
About 6,000 schools have been closed for the last 10 years and teacher posts should be filled. There are no English, Maths and Science teachers in 16,000 schools as teacher vacancies have not been filled. Students are lagging in these three subjects making them unfit to compete with other states in competitive entrance exams for engineering, medicine, NEET, etc.
He also said that earlier the state government had announced that 5,000 teacher posts were filled by the education department. This is very unfair. As per the PRC committee report, about 25,000 teacher posts are vacant in government schools. This contradicts the announcement made by former Chief Minister KCR that 13,000 teacher posts would be filled.
Around 16,000 education volunteers were recruited two years ago. Even now, the finance department has approved the appointment of 22,000 special teachers five months ago. “Why are these special teachers appointed if teacher posts are not vacant?” he added.
The President of the National BC Welfare Association said, “About 16 lakh unemployed people with B.Ed, D.Ed and other qualifications are unemployed. There is a need to use their skills for society. The filling up of teacher posts should not be seen as spending budget funds for giving jobs to the unemployed. It should be seen from the point of view that through these teachers the future citizens of India will be trained into useful citizens.”
He said that 4,900 vacant posts in aided schools should be filled. For the last 25 years, teacher posts have not been filled in aided schools. About 90 per cent of vacancies are not filled for years and 10,000 vacant PET posts in government schools should be sanctioned and filled.
Around 5,000 art-craft and drawing teacher posts which have been vacant for the last 20 years in government schools should also be filled.
Computers have been sent to 4,000 government schools, that is, one computer for each high school. However, no computer teachers have been appointed so far. So we request to appoint 4,000 computer teachers, he said.
