Fish food festival in TS on June 8

Telangana Animal husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Monday announced that a fish food festival will be held across the state on June 8.

The Minister made the announcement at the Matsya Bhavan, where Pittala Ravinder took charge as the chairman of the Matsya Cooperative Society. Addressing the gathering, the minister said, “Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao aims to strengthen the families of those dependent on caste-based occupations in order to boost the rural economy. Based on the grievances of fishermen, ponds inundated by weed were rejuvenated under Mission Kakatiya.”

“Earlier, brokers controlled the ponds, and the government then transferred water bodies under Panchyati Raj to the fisheries department and the rights were also transferred to the fishermen. They have been provided with vehicles including trolleys, trucks and two-wheelers at a subsidy; enabling them to sell the fish,” he added.

Sharing details regarding the festival, the Minister said that stalls of different types of fish dishes will be set up. Upon assuming charge as the Chairman, Ravinder said that he would work for the progress of the fisheries sector.

 Legislative Council Vice-Chairman Banda Prakash, MLCs Padi Kaushik Reddy and Naradasu Lakshmana Rao, Corporation Chairman Dudimetla Balaraj Yadav, Koleti Damodar Gupta, Gellu Srinivas Yadav, Allam Narayana, Animal Husbandry Department Special Chief Secretary Adhar Sinha, Fisheries Commissioner Lachiram Bhukya and animal husbandry Branch Director Ramchander were present on the occasion.
