Road connectivity to several villages remained cut off and the heavy inflows to the river Godavari,Krishna, Sabari and Muneru continued unabated on Friday.
Several villages which were merged in AP during the bifurcation remained surrendered in the Godavari flood water. Following heavy rains in the catchment areas, heavy inflows continued to the river Godavari. Rains occurred at several mandals in ARS district on Friday also.
The second warning was issued at Dowleswaram barrage where the water level stood at 14.3 feet. Officials said that 13.57 lakh cusecs of water was being discharged downstream into the sea. The water level stood at 46 feet at Bhadrachalam. The Sabari River, which is the tributary to the river Godavari, is also in spate with heavy inflow. The water level stood at 38 feet at Sileru project. The water level stood at 43 feet at the Sabari and Godavari confluence at Kunavaram.
The officials evacuated a large number of villagers from low-lying areas in Chintoor mandal to the relief camps. The road connectivity remained cut off to VR Puram and several other villages in Chintoor and Kunavaram mandalas. The Kunavaram-Bhadrachalam road inundated with the Godavari flood water disrupting road connectivity to several villages.
Official sources said that 120 villages in four merged mandals were badly affected. The causeway at Kondarajupet in Kunavaram mandal submerged in the flood water disrupting the vehicular traffic to several villages.
In Konaseema district, flood water was overflowing on NH 30 at Rayanapet village. Several island villages in the district remained surrounded by Godavari flood water. Since the Godavari continued to be in spate, the flood water was gushing into the villages.
The officials arranged boats for the villagers to come out of their villages. Inavilli Lanka, Kunalanka, Gujapulanka, Gedelalanka and Chintapalli villages were marooned in knee deep water and the villages were cut off from the outer world. Most of the villagers refused to leave the villages.
The Munneru river water was overflowing on Vijayawada-Hyderabad national highway at Nandigama and hundreds of vehicles stranded either side of the road. The RTC officials were operating buses to Hyderabad via Guntur, Piduguralla and Dachepalli. 1.92 lakh cusecs of water was flowing in the Munneru river now, officials said. As many as hundred passengers were stranded at Keesara toll gate.
The NDRF rescued 11 agriculture labourers who were struck in the Menneru flood water at Kanchala village in Nandigama mandal. Meanwhile, crops including paddy and horticulture are undated in flood waters in Eluru, Konaseema and ARS districts.
