Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is set to release the compensation for flood-affected victims from the Vijayawada Collectorate on Wednesday. The CM will directly transfer the compensation amount into the bank accounts of the victims.
The recent heavy rains and flooding, caused by a breach in the Budameru canal, have inundated several areas of Vijayawada city, resulting in significant property damage.
Sixteen districts across the state have reported extensive damage to crops and property.
It may be recalled that Vijayawada City and its suburban areas were severely impacted by unprecedented rains and floods.
The CM operated from the Vijayawada Collectorate, which functioned as his Secretariat for about 10 days, as he led relief efforts on a war footing.
The government has completed the assessment of losses in the flood-affected areas, enabling the distribution of compensation.
CM Naidu has already announced a compensation package, which will be disbursed on September. 25 The government will directly deposit the compensation into the bank accounts of eligible victims.
The Chief Minister has also instructed officials to ensure that insurance payments for vehicles damaged in the floods are completed by the end of September.
