Commissioner of the State College Education Department, Pola Bhaskar, has said that the department should make efforts to eradicate unemployment by delivering quality education. He elaborated on their commitment to realising the vision of Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, to offer employment opportunities to two to three lakh graduate students in the near future. This vision is being pursued by forging agreements with 50 companies, resulting in the creation of jobs for 20,000 to 25,000 students annually.

The State Commissionerate of College Education and the Society for Jawahar Knowledge Centre on Saturday jointly organised a ‘Maha Job Mela’ programme for students from 21 government colleges in Guntur, Prakasam, and Nellore districts who graduated in the academic year 2022-23. The event took place at the Government Women’s College (Autonomous) in Guntur. Bhaskar encouraged students to pay close attention to the job opportunities created by the government and urged them to effectively leverage these opportunities in today’s highly competitive environment. He also called upon college principals and teachers to carry out their responsibilities with a broad perspective and a strong sense of social responsibility.

Bhaskar highlighted the distinctive approach of the College Education department, wherein every student pursuing employable courses at the degree level receives essential employment training before completing their studies. This training equips them to secure jobs through government-sponsored job fairs. Additionally, the college education department offers instruction in eight subjects, including life skills and soft skills, enabling students to achieve financial independence in their lives. Bhaskar noted that teachers in government colleges have already undergone specialised training as part of this initiative.

The programme was attended by College Principal V. Rama Josna Kumari, Vidya Academic Guiding Officer Tulsi Masthanamma, State Jawahar Knowledge Centre Chief Coordinator Ram Gopal, Principals of three District Government Colleges, Coordinators, representatives from 30 different companies, and students.
