Andhra University (AU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. G Sashibhushana Rao has underscored the institution’s dedication to excellence, linking its esteemed reputation to the performance and commitment of its faculty. During a comprehensive meeting with the teaching and non-teaching staff of the Arts College, held at the academic senate hall on Monday, VC Sashibhushana Rao addressed critical issues and outlined a clear vision for the future.
Prof. Rao, in his address, emphasised that the prestige of AU is intricately connected to the dedication and efficiency of its teaching staff. “The university’s reputation is built on the shoulders of its faculty,” he stated, calling for robust management of classes and research activities. He encouraged professors to actively pursue research projects, highlighting the importance of commitment and punctuality among the staff. “Instances of tardiness must be rectified to maintain our high standards,” he added.
In a bid to ensure the welfare of students residing in hostels, VC Rao directed wardens and chief wardens to conduct regular inspections. He stressed the need to prevent non-boarders from residing in the hostels and called for improved performance of hostel staff to maintain a ragging-free environment. The impending renewal of ISO certification was also discussed, with Rao urging departments to provide necessary cooperation and timely information.
Prof. Rao assured the faculty and staff of his unwavering support, pledging to visit each department personally to gather suggestions and address their concerns. During the meeting, concerns were raised by professors regarding the shortage of classrooms in the Commerce Management Department and the lack of teaching staff in the Economics Department. The VC assured prompt resolution of these issues.
Principal Acharya A. Narasimha Rao and Registrar Acharya N. Kishore Babu also spoke at the event, echoing the VC’s sentiments and reinforcing the importance of collective effort in achieving academic excellence. Arts College department heads, Board of Studies chairmen, professors, non-teaching staff, and other key stakeholders were present.
