‘Food processing units will boost demand for TS rice’

Telangana government is expecting that the paddy production will increase to 4 crore tonnes from the present 3 crore tonnes, once Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Project, Gouravelli Malkapeta, Baswapur and other irrigation projects are completed.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao reiterated that more advanced rice mills will be made available in addition to the existing mills in the state to increase the milling capacity and further develop the state’s agriculture.On the same occasion, the Chief Minister ordered the officials to take measures to make the rice crop produced by the farmer into various food products and export it to other states and other countries to make more profit for the farmer.

On this occasion, KCR said, “From providing investment to the crop to buying grain at affordable prices, we are continuing the welfare of farmers and developing agriculture in a way that no other state in the country has done. Telangana is green. The crop yield has increased tremendously. Farmer families are happy. Further, food processing units should be set up for their welfare and rice products should be exported to other states and countries. Then the demand for Telangana rice will increase and farmers will make profits. We are going to set up new advanced mills keeping in mind the abundant crop. For this, we will form a high-level committee, finalise the procedures and start operations. I have discussed with internationally-renowned companies.” The CM said that the committee will hold discussions with them from Saturday and submit a report to the government.

The CM said that the state government will implement agricultural policies keeping in mind the welfare of Telangana farmers. He reiterated that while the existing rice mills continue as usual, they will take action towards establishing advanced mills and food processing industries.

Special Chief Secretary for Finance Ramakrishna Rao will continue as the President, Smita Sabharwal, Secretary to CM, Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary of IT Industries, Civil Supplies Commissioner Anil Kumar and TS IIC MD Narsimha Reddy will continue as members.

In this regard, CM KCR held a high-level review meeting at Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat on Friday.

In this review meeting, Ministers Harish Rao, Gangula Kamalakar, Jagadish Reddy, Srinivas Goud, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Sabita Indra Reddy, MP Damodar Rao, Rythu Bandhu Samiti President MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Government Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, CMO officials, Narsing Rao, Bhupal Reddy, Special Chief Secretary of Finance Ramakrishna Rao, CM Secretary Smita Sabharwal, IT Industries Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, MAUD Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar, Civil Supplies Corporation Commissioner Anil Kumar and, TS IIC MD Narsimha Reddy participated. Along with them, International Rice Mill Manufacturing Company Satake’ India Director RK Bajaj and other representatives participated in the review meeting.

The Chief Minister also held a review meeting in the wake of incessant rains in the state. On this occasion, he enquired about the flood situation in Godavari and the flood situation at Bhadrachalam. He enquired about the flood reaching Kaleswaram and other projects through Pranahita and other rivers.

Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari explained to the CM that the situation is constantly being monitored and the situation is under control. The government machinery is alert and ready for relief measures while predicting the flood at Bhadrachalam.
