Forced abortion proves fatal for housewife

A PhD scholar, manager of a private hospital, some of the staff members, including the hospital nurse, were taken into custody for illegally attempting medical termination of pregnancy of a housewife leading to her death. The termination of pregnancy was attempted after coming to know that foetus was female.
The deceased was identified as Suhasini. Her husband Hari Singh, private hospital manager, Shaik Qasim, nurse Devarakonda Rani were taken into custody.
Besides, employees of a hospital in Kodad, Ranapangu Gopi and Shaik Saidulu were also taken into custody for helping them in aborting the female foetus.
The owners of a private hospital that conducted sex-determination test are still at large.
The locals have been describing Hari Singh, who was responsible for the death of his wife, as an educated fool.
The incident of forcible abortion of a female foetus came to light in Suryapet district. Hari Singh, upon assessing the sex of the foetus, decided to ensure that his wife’s pregnancy was terminated.
According to details,  Marriage of Suhasini of Mahabubabad district was performed in 2019 with Ratnawat Hari Singh of MG Nagar Thanda of Chivvemlamandal of Suryapet district. The couple had two daughters aged four and two years. Suhasini decided to get herself sterilised after two children. However, Hari Singh and his relatives mounted pressure on her demanding that they wanted a male child in the family. Hari Singh  threatened to marry again if she fails to bear for him a baby boy.
