Chief Minister Revanth Reddy declared that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Kishan Reddy sanction Rs 1.5 lakh crore for Hyderabad’s development, he would personally honour the PM at a public meeting at the Parade Ground attended by 10 lakh people.
He criticised the BJP-led Central Government for neglecting the city’s pressing needs and urged Union Minister Kishan Reddy to secure funds for transformative projects.
Speaking at the ‘Hyderabad Rising’ event, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy laid out an ambitious plan to develop Hyderabad’s Fourth City into a global city, comparable to New York, Tokyo, Singapore and other metropolises. Addressing a gathering on the occasion of his government completing one year, he urged the public to focus on preparing for the future with a comprehensive development strategy.
“We have 15,000 acres, another 15,000 acres of forest land is also there. Another 15,000 acres are needed for Future City. Farmers should give lands for that,” Revanth said.
He highlighted Hyderabad’s unique global position and credited the Congress’s foresight in encouraging the development of the IT industry, Krishna and Godavari drinking water supply projects and the Hyderabad Metro.
The Chief Minister announced plans to construct a Rs 35,000 crore, 360-km Regional Ring Road with radial roads to connect Hyderabad’s outskirts seamlessly.
He also unveiled proposals for an international fruit market with cold storage facilities at Ibrahimpatnam and the development of a ‘Future City’ spanning 40,000 to 50,000 acres, designed to rival the world’s best cities.
He strongly criticised the BRS for neglecting Tank Bund and failing to deliver promised developments in the Old City. He accused the BRS government of overlooking essential infrastructure and said the Congress is committed to addressing these gaps.
The Chief Minister strongly countered Union Minister Kishan Reddy and challenged him to bring Rs 25,000 crore for Musi rejuvenation and additional funds for Metro expansion, Godavari water supply and the Regional Ring Road.
He accused the BJP of ‘prioritising’ Gujarat over Telangana and questioned Kishan’s contributions as a Union Minister.
He emphasized the Congress government’s efforts to make Hyderabad a pollution-free, safe and economically thriving city and pledged to allot Rs 1.5 lakh crore for Hyderabad’s development. The CM also invited constructive proposals from the opposition and experts.
