Excitement fills the air as the dreams of a lucky beneficiary soar to new heights. Eepuri Jeevaratnam, hailing from Guntur district, is set to receive a free house, a gift from none other than Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The handover ceremony is scheduled for Monday (July 24), where the Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone for the construction of over 50,000 houses for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) in Krishnayapalem, Guntur district.
To ensure a seamless understanding of the project, a model house was constructed in the Krishnayapalem layout of Mangalagiri mandal, courtesy of Ajaya Ventures Labour Agency. The model house was built using shear wall technology, a method chosen by the government to expedite the construction process and deliver houses to the needy as swiftly as possible.
Jeevaratnam, a jubilant beneficiary, expressed her joy at the prospect of finally owning a house after years of anticipation. “My husband, an agricultural labourer, and I have been living in rented accommodation for the past 13 years. I had applied for a house twice during the previous government’s tenure, but my hopes were dashed. However, this time, my application was approved, and I was allotted a plot in Krishnayapalem layout,” she shared.
Ecstatic about her house being the first completed one in CRDA, Jeevaratnam expressed gratitude to CM Jagan Mogan Mohan Reddy for his support for the underprivileged. “My children’s education is progressing smoothly, and I have received ‘Amma Vodi’ benefits. As a member of SHG, I was granted a loan waiver in four installments. CM Jagan has been a true brother to the poor,” she added gratefully.
The journey towards achieving these dreams faced some challenges. When the government allocated land for disadvantaged women, certain factions approached the courts, causing fear among the beneficiaries’ families. Nevertheless, the government’s determination prevailed, and the distribution of house plots in 1,366.48 acres across 25 layouts in CRDA brought hope to 50,793 deserving women beneficiaries from NTR and Guntur districts. As of now, 47,017 beneficiaries (23,821 from NTR district and 23,196 from Guntur district) have received approval for house construction.
The majority, numbering 45,100, have chosen Option-3, wherein the government takes charge of building the houses.
The upcoming event marks a remarkable milestone in the lives of countless families like Jeevaratnam’s, as the CM’s initiative continues to change lives and offer a ray of hope to those in need.
