Minister for Education and IT, Nara Lokesh, announced that starting next week, land title registration for housing plots would be provided free of cost. He further stated that beneficiaries would be eligible to sell these land titles after a two-year period. The announcement was made during the ‘Mana Illu–Mana Lokesh’ programme held at Don Bosco School in Mangalagiri on Friday.
On the fourth day of the initiative, Minister Lokesh distributed permanent house site ‘pattas’ to 1,030 economically disadvantaged families, including 430 from the Tadepalli Mahanadu area.
Lokesh highlighted a broad array of welfare and development measures launched in the region, such as free medical services under the ‘NTR Sanjeevani’ scheme, vocational training for women, employment generation, and sports promotion through the Mangalagiri Premier League. He noted that 26 welfare schemes have been rolled out in Mangalagiri.
He also announced the approval of a long-pending 100-bed hospital in the second Cabinet meeting. The foundation stone is scheduled to be laid on 13 April, and the hospital is expected to be completed within a year. Additional initiatives include enhancements to underground drainage, water pipelines, power and gas supply, and the development of the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple.
Lokesh said Rs 300 crore would be allocated for constructing a major retaining wall. Parks are being developed across multiple wards, with six new parks under construction and the SLN Park already inaugurated. Of the 31 proposed community halls, land has been identified for 17, and two are nearing completion.
He emphasised the transparent and corruption-free process of house site allocation, in contrast to earlier times when people spent thousands on applications without results. “We surveyed the lands promptly, formulated a policy through the Cabinet, and are delivering on our promises,” he said.
Appealing to beneficiaries not to sell their plots, Lokesh said Mangalagiri is poised to become one of the cleanest and most developed cities in the country. “You gave me historic support, and I will serve you with unwavering dedication,” he concluded.
