State Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy has revealed that the Telangana government has decided to give free work books to students studying in government primary schools and note books to students in high schools.
On Wednesday, she conducted a review of the Education Department in her office in the Secretariat.
The minister said that this decision taken by the government will benefit 24 lakh students of the state. The officials were directed to take steps to provide the work books and note books before the schools reopen. Similarly, all the school students in the state will be provided bilingual textbooks. The minister said that while 132 crores were spent on the distribution of textbooks last year, 200 crores will be spent for the coming academic year and the textbooks will be provided free of cost to the students.
The Minister directed to take steps to provide two pairs of uniforms to all the students of the government schools by the time the school re-opens with a cost of around 150 crore rupees. As the school is re-opening from June 12th, the Minister suggested that a Badibata program should be organized and the local legislators and public representatives should participate in it. The officials were advised to make programs such as distribution of note books, distribution of textbooks and distribution of uniforms to the students under the leadership of local legislators and public representatives.
The officials were directed to complete the works undertaken under the Mana Ooru – Mana Badi program by the first week of June. Education Secretary Vakati Karuna, Director of School Education, Devasena and others were part of the meeting.
