Bharatiya Janata Party Telangana unit leaders have sought clarity from party TS in-charges Prakash Javadekar and Sunil Bansal on the nature of ties between the BJP and the BRS.
The BJP Telangana unit leaders want the air to be clear as there appeared to be an ‘understanding’ between the two parties. For,these leaders, including former MP Ravindra Naik, Mrithyunjayam, Mohan Reddy, Dr Vijayarama Rao, Ramesh Rathod, Chada Suresh Reddy and Vannala Sriramulu, pointed out to Javadekar and Bansal that a sympathetic attitude towards the KCR government’s corruption “would not work out for the BJP in the state”.
Drawing attention to the glaring fact that no less a person than Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself had spoken out against the KCR government’s graft, these leaders sought to know why the Centre had not initiated action against the Bharat Rashtra Samiti government.
The leaders opined that the BJP’s standing in the state would have been much better today had action been initiated against BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha in the Delhi liquor scam case.
The worked-up Telangana leaders shared with Javadekar and Bansal that people had been demanding to know why the Central government had not initiated action, considering that the Prime Minister would not have levelled charges of corruption against the KCR governmentwithout evidence. So, they want the BJP brass to lay bare whether BJP and BRS are friends or foes, in the context of their political sparring for public consumption. The leaders, particularly party Morchas’ presidents, asked the BJP TS in-charges to declare the party’s candidates for the upcoming elections as early as possible.
After giving them a patient hearing, Javadekar and Bansal put the record straight, stating that there was no understanding whatsoever between the BJP and BRS, it is learnt.
Javadekar and Bansal earlier had a meeting with important leaders, including former MPs, MLAs, MLCs, ZP chairpersons, Mayors, and retired IAS officers working with the party, among others.
Some of the leaders asked the in-charges to give the candidates a free hand after announcing their names quite early. Some of the leaders mentioned that the party district presidents were “not allowing them to work in their constituencies”.
After the meeting, Ravindra Naik, while speaking to media persons, questioned the need for Modi and other BJP national leaders to make allegations against the KCR government when the Centre was not willing to proceed against the state government. Ravindra Naik said that the BJP would face problems in case the Central government failed to initiate action against the KCR government.
Ravindra Naik said that the leaders did not allow him to meet Modi during the PM’s recent visit to Warangal. The leaders did not allow him to meet BJP national president JP Nadda either when he came to Karimnagar. He alleged that district in-charge NVSS Prabhakar did not allow him to meet Nadda.
“NVSS Prabhakar pushed me, saying:’go away from here’. What is this system?”, Ravindra Naik questioned. Ravindra Naik said that he had asked Javadekar and Bansal to tell what would be the situation for common activists of the party, given his own predicament before party higher-ups.Ravindra Naik said that he was a Minister belonging to the ST community and had fought for the sake of a separate Telangana state.
Javadekar, Bansal later said that the Core Committee had decided to appoint 22 committees for the elections. They explained the decisions taken at the Core Committee meeting held on Friday. The in-charges made it clear that leaders would have to stay among people from August 1st onwards. Committees have been appointed for manifesto, chargesheet, media campaign, public meetings, talking points, statistics, feedback, other states coordination, among others. The meeting decided to work seriously as the elections were coming in 100 days.
The BJP TS in-charges suggested that the leaders should wage movements against public issues, instead of confining themselves to party office and press meets.
It is learnt that the former MPs, MLAs, and several former public representatives expressed their happiness over the party conducting a meeting with them. They offered to do any work assigned by the party. The in-charges told the leaders to inform them if they wanted to share anything. “You have to inform us,Kishan Reddy, or Indrasena Reddy if you have any problem”, they told the leaders.Kishan Reddy made it clear to the State BJP morchas presidents that there would be changes in the existing committees.
