Centre gave Rs 5.27 lakh cr

Declaring that the Centre has been extending all kinds of help to Telangana, Union Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy gave details of the funds given to Telangana by the Centre in the last nine years.

He said the Centre spent Rs 5,270 billion in Telangana through development and welfare programmes.

He said that the Centre gave Rs 9,260 billion as personal loans to various sections of people in Telangana. He said that the Centre gave Rs 9,810 billion as loans to Telangana including non-budget loans and loans from Central institutions.

He said that the Centre bore the Rs 6,950 crore loan given to Telangana during the corona pandemic in 2020-2022.

Kishan said the Centre gave Rs 18,500 billion to states in 2004-14, however, the Centre gave Rs 69.60 crore to states in 2014-23 after Modi became PM. He said the Modi government gave 3.75 times more funds to states than the UPA government. Giving a 321-page PowerPoint presentation to intellectuals, journalists and people attending the programme ‘Report to People’ at the RTC Kala Bhavan on Saturday, Kishan said that the e gave Rs 15,329 crore as GST compensation.

He gave a PowerPoint presentation on funds given by the Centre to Telangana in the last nine years. Kishan said that the Centre allocated Rs 1350 billion for the purchase of agricultural produce in Telangana. The Centre gave Rs 983 crore to Telangana under the Parliament Constituencies Development funds (MPLADS).

The Centre gave Rs 2250 crore for the development of backward areas in Telangana by creating basic facilities as per Section 94(2) of the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Act. The share of taxes of states was increased from 32 per cent to 42 per cent, Kishan said.

He said that the Centre gave Rs 8,379 crore for Telangana after the Centre introduced GST in 2017. Kishan said the Centre gave Rs 902 crore for Basthi Dawakhanas. He said that the Centre gave Rs 1,600 billion as share of taxes since 2014.

The Centre gave Rs 6,438 crore through the National Health Mission. Kishan said that the Centre gave Rs 685 crore to Telangana under the Emergency Response Package during the corona pandemic.

The Centre gave 7.8 crore corona vaccine doses worth Rs 1,800 crore to Telangana free, Kishan said. He said that the Centre allocated Rs 21,201 crore for the Regional Ring Road (RRR), Rs 715 crore for the development of the Secunderabad Railway Station, Rs 221 crore for the development of the Cherlapally Rail Terminal and Rs 1,153 crore for the MMTS second phase.

He said the Centre allocated 2.50 lakh houses to Telangana under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and 2.33 lakh houses were completed. He said that the scheme was implemented in 138 towns. The Centre established AIIMS spending Rs 1,336 crore for strengthening the healthcare sector. The Jal Shakthi Ministry allocated Rs 795 crore to 1,040 villages to eradicate fluorosis.

He said that the Centre allocated Rs 7,461 crore under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, Rs 104.64 crore for Adult Education and Rs 1,663 crore for the mid-day meal scheme. He said the Centre allocated 10 per cent of Udan flights to Hyderabad. The Centre allocated Rs 394.19 crore under the Integrated Power Development Scheme and Rs 278 crore under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grama Jyothi Yojana Scheme.
