Balladeer Gaddar was laid to rest with full State honours at the Maha Bodhi Vidyalaya, the school built by him, amid shouts of ‘Johar Gaddar,’ ‘Lal Salaam,’ and ‘Gaddar Amar Rahe.’ Gaddar had wanted his final rites to be held at that school.
The final rites were held as per Buddhist customs with Buddhist clergy reciting, “Buddham Namami, Dhammam Namami, Sangam Namami and Bhimam Namami.” Gaddar’s revolutionary songs echoed in his funeral procession. Gaddar, who was hospitalised for a heart attack a few days back, underwent a bypass surgery on August 3 and doctors said that he was recovering. Gaddar’s condition deteriorated on Sunday and he experienced lung and urinary problems. Doctors declared him dead at 3 pm on Sunday.
The final 17-km journey of Gaddar through the streets of Hyderabad took six hours to reach Maha Bodhi Vidyalaya. A large number of artistes, fans and people took part in the funeral procession.
The leaders of political parties and public organisations also paid their tributes to Gaddar. Chief Minister KCR paid tributes to the mortal remains of Gaddar. KCR reached Gaddar’s residence at Alwal on Monday evening. Later, the CM paid his respects to Gaddar and consoled his family.
The CM was accompanied by Ministers Harish Rao, Thalasani Srinivas Yadav, Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Planning Commission Vice President Vinod Kumar, MLAs Balka Suman, Rasmai Balakishan, Chanti Kranti Kiran, Mainampally Hanmanth Rao, MLC Goreti Venkanna, and other BRS leaders. Leaders of all parties took part in the funeral procession.
VCK chief MP Thol Thirumavalan also paid his tributes to Gaddar.
