The resignation of Jogulamba Gadwal Zilla Parishad Chairperson Saritha came as a shock to the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). She announced her decision to join the Congress party in Delhi on Thursday.
It was speculated for some time that Saritha was likely to change the party. She has been seeking the Congress party ticket to contest from the Gadwal Assembly constituency.
Several leaders and activists from the BRS and BJP have been increasingly migrating to the Congress.
