As the much-anticipated action crime comedy Gam Gam Ganesha gears up for its grand theatrical release on May 31, producer Vamsi Karumanchi, making his Tollywood debut, shares insights into the film’s journey and his experiences in the industry.
“Our roots are in Guntur. We moved to the US for work and business but returned to India during the lockdown. Due to travel restrictions, we couldn’t go back to the US,” reveals Vamsi, adding, “Since childhood, I’ve been a movie enthusiast and a fan of Balakrishna. Even in the US, we watched all Telugu movies, often surprising others with our enthusiasm in theaters.”
Discussing the genesis of Gam Gam Ganesha, Vamsi explained, “When director Uday Shetty narrated the story, Anand liked it. Anand plays a funky character that’s somewhat brash and daring. Gam Gam Ganesha revolves around a Ganesh statue and money, blending action and comedy.”
Elaborating on the film’s journey to the big screen, Vamsi shares, “We initially aimed to release it during Vinayaka Chavithi but postponed it due to industry strikes and Anand’s involvement in Baby. We then planned a release for the 25th of this month but shifted to the 31st to avoid clashing with Dil Raju’s Love Me.”
“Gearing up for a substantial release, Gam Gam Ganesha is being distributed by Mythri Movie Distributors in Nizam and Dheeraj Mogilineni Entertainments in AP and Karnataka, with over 400 theaters secured. We also have an OTT deal with Amazon Prime,” he adds.
Reflecting on the film’s unique charm, Vamsi emphasises, “Anand’s role in Gam Gam Ganesha is unique and should not be compared to his role in Baby. The film boasts impressive comedy, with Jabardast Emmanuel delivering humour. Heroines Nayan Sarika and Pragathi Srivastava shine with significant roles.”
Commending director Uday Shetty’s vision, Vamsi remarks, “Directors often struggle to bring crime comedy genres to life as well as they narrate them, but Uday has executed Gam Gam Ganesha excellently. The budget was significant, but the quality is evident.”
Looking ahead, Vamsi expresses excitement about future projects and the possibility of working with his favourite actor, Balakrishna. As Gam Gam Ganesha prepares to hit theaters amidst healthy competition, Vamsi Karumanchi exudes confidence in the film’s potential to captivate audiences and make a mark in Tollywood.
