Actress Anjali’s landmark 50th film Geetanjali Malli Vachindi hit theatres on April 11. Directed by Shiva Turlapati and produced by Kona Venkat in association with MVV Cinemas, this big-budget horror comedy film is receiving a fairly good response from the audience.
The director of the film, in an interaction with the media, revealed some more interesting details about the film, its next part, and more.
Clearing the air about the third part of the film, he shared, “I read many reviews in which some people wrote that many things were left unanswered in the movie. However, if all those logics are answered, it will be three hours long, like Animal. That’s not what I want. It is an out-and-out family movie. We didn’t think of doing a Conjuring-type horror film. We made it an entertaining film. All doubts will be clarified in the third part. I have discussed all these matters with Kona, as a good idea for Part 3 came at the last moment of making Part 2. So, we had a discussion about it, and we will soon reveal those details.”
He continued, “In Part 2, we gave a lead to Part 3. Rao Ramesh captures the soul in the form of a girl. There is another twist in this, which will be explored in Part 3.”
The director had a small cameo to play in the film, and he shared that it all happened suddenly as they were shooting in Ooty and they couldn’t find a suitable guy. “We couldn’t afford retakes at that point in time because of the shooting schedule, so I decided I would only do it as we were not finding the right person. I was recognised in the movie, and I am happy about it.”
So far, the director feels he learned a lot from this film, and he is assured to do better in the next film. Shiva, who always dreamt of directing, shared, “Being in the industry for over 20 years, I always dreamt of directing. That’s why I told Kona some scripts. He is busy with back-to-back movies, and I couldn’t interrupt his work then. However, I did not expect that my debut as a director would happen with this film. They felt this movie was the right one for my launch as a director.”
For those unaware of Shiva, he has been a choreographer in the South film industry and has choreographed some good songs in the industry, which not many are aware of. He did Brahmastra and Shankarabharanam, among many others, and he is a choreographer who likes to tell a story in every song, which is what I liked a lot about him. From learning dance by watching Chiranjeevi’s movies to becoming a choreographer, his journey was not all that rosy. However, he took the rough path and became successful, and that’s what matters. He even went to America, but his passion brought him back to his home place, and he now also runs a dance school in Hyderabad, which has about 500–600 students learning dance.
Furthermore, Shiva shared that he has many stories and is looking to make a sentimental and emotional genre film, as he feels any movie without emotion will not work.
Lastly, “People who have watched Geetanjali Malli Vachindi are sending me messages. Because of the weekend, everyone in the US is now watching the movie, and I am getting a good response from there. Sunil and Satya’s comedy explodes in the second half. Climax is appreciated by some as extraordinary,” he shared in conclusion.
