GHMC Council meeting ends in chaos

Must read

The GHMC office witnessed chaos and its council meeting ended abruptly on Wednesday.

The day began as per schedule with corporators of the BJP, the AIMIM and the Congress, but within minutes BJP corporators appeared in black clothes and staged a protest before the beginning of the second session.

Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi said that it was a very sad day and that she had spoken to all party leaders to make the meeting a success. She said that corporators were asked to cooperate as the meeting was being held after five months.

The mayor said the council meeting was organised to resolve public issues and BJP corporators deliberately staged a protest.

It all began when BJP corporators used unparliamentary words against officials. Mamatha, the GHMC Zonal Commissioner of Kukatpally, said the manner in which BJP corporators addressed officials inside the Council was unfortunate.

She said that BJP members had barged into the HMWSSB office on Tuesday and had dumped silt inside the office. She supported the officials by walking out of the meeting.

The Mayor said that officers from the circle and zonal offices are listening to the problems aired by corporators and are trying hard to resolve them.

She said that although GHMC and Water Board officials are working hard they are being blamed in offensive language and they would not cooperate if it continues.
