The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken the initiative to develop 107 junctions in city.
The project is estimated to cost of Rs 78 crore.
“Vehicular movement is being monitored closely to prevent accidents on the road. It is estimated that 40 to 60 per cent of road accidents occur at junctions in most countries. The main objective of the development is beautification of junctions, protecting pedestrians from accidents.
Major intersections are being developed in city. The Officials stressed the need to develop the existing junctions in line with increasing number of vehicles..
As a part of the development, construction of footpaths to prevent accidents and beautification works will be undertaken to provide a pleasant environment for motorists.
“Although proposed to be undertaken on a larger scale, some have been canceled due to lack of feasibility. So far, as many as 31 junctions have been completed, while 13 more junctions are in various stages of development. 17 junctions are yet to be sanctioned by the administration. Work is to be initiated at 16 junctions. 8 are included in the tender process.
Another 8 land acquisitions should be done, 14 junctions are not feasible. Circle wise priority junctions have been identified and developed.
Due to the development of the junction, the motorists will be able to reach their destination without any hassle and on time without any delay,” said the GHMC in a statement.
