A shocking truth has come to light in a report released by the Census Department of the Union Home Ministry. Statistics have revealed the bitter fact that the number of girls is decreasing in the state.
In 2019, 953 girls were born for every 1000 boys. In 2021, the number of girls fell to an alarming level. Only 922 girls were born for every 1000 boys. The birth rate in Telangana is higher in urban areas than in rural areas.
In 2021, 1,96,166 people were born in rural areas. The report revealed that 4,15,485 people were born in urban areas. At the same time, it was found that 3.18 lakh boys were born in 2021 and 2.93 lakh girls were born. It was also revealed that the number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Telangana in 2021 increased by 15.4 per cent.
In 2021, 1.08 L people died in rural areas, while 1.26 L people died in urban areas. Out of a total of 2.34 L people who died in 2021, 1.35 L were men and 98,000 were women. When it comes to newborns, it is noteworthy that more deaths occur in urban areas compared to rural areas.
In 2021, a total of 2.34 lakh people died, of which 76 per cent were found to be above the age of 55. Of these, 12,000 were in the age group of 35-44, 22,000 were in the age group of 45-54, 42,000 were in the age group of 55-64, 85,000 were in the age group of 65-69, and 51,000 were in the age group of 70 and above. Hyderabad came first in neonatal mortality, followed by Peddapalli district.
In Telangana, a total of 6.11 lakh people were born in 2021, of which the highest number was in Hyderabad district with 95,666, while the lowest number was in Mulugu district where only 3868 children were born.
In terms of births, Hyderabad is followed by Medchal, Nizamabad, Sangareddy, Warangal Urban, Nalgonda and Khammam districts.
