The Andhra Pradesh Pharmacologists Society (APPS) successfully hosted a two-day national conference at GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR). The event brought together leading experts, students, and researchers from across India to discuss the latest advancements in pharmacotherapeutics.
Dr B Geetanjali, Pro Vice-Chancellor of GIMSR, inaugurated the conference, emphasising the importance of research in emerging areas of pharmacology. She highlighted the need for innovative approaches to enhance medication safety and patient care.
The conference featured a diverse range of topics, including medication safety, career opportunities for young pharmacologists, and therapeutic trends. Participants presented over 100 scientific papers and posters, showcasing groundbreaking research in the field. Panel discussions on critical issues such as the challenges facing young pharmacologists, rational medication use, academic authorship, and the emerging role of food as medicine were also held. Renowned speakers and senior professors from various institutions across India enriched the discussions with their expert insights.
Dr K Shankar, APPS Founder, emphasised the importance of embracing technology in the field, highlighting the transformative potential of AI and data analytics in drug development and medical education. The conference not only provided a platform for academic exchange but also fostered meaningful collaborations and networks that will undoubtedly contribute to the advancement of medical pharmacology in the years to come.
