GITAM launches new MBA in healthcare management

GITAM-deemed-to-be-University (GITAM) announced a new Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme specialising in Healthcare Management. This programme addresses the growing demand for skilled professionals in India’s rapidly evolving healthcare sector. The announcement, made during a press meeting on Tuesday, highlighted the program’s collaborative development with Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) and the Academy of Hospital Administration (AHA). This unique partnership promises a comprehensive curriculum combining strong business fundamentals with healthcare-specific expertise.
The two-year program equips graduates with the necessary skills to excel in healthcare leadership roles. Students will gain a thorough understanding of finance, marketing, operations, and healthcare-specific subjects. “The program is designed with a strong emphasis on practical application,” explained Prof. Rajaphani Pappu, Dean of GITAM School of Business. Students will gain real-world experience through case studies, group projects, hospital visits, and internships. This immersive approach fosters innovation and problem-solving skills crucial for navigating today’s complex healthcare landscape.
Applications for the MBA program (2024-25) are currently being accepted. Admission is contingent upon performance in the all-India GITAM Business Admission Test (GBAT-2024), scheduled for June 30th, 2024, at the GITAM Campus in Visakhapatnam. Candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks are encouraged to submit online applications through the GITAM University website.
Representatives from AP MedTech Zone applauded GITAM’s initiative, acknowledging its potential to develop skilled professionals who can drive innovation and excellence within the dynamic Indian healthcare sector. The program’s emphasis on hands-on learning and establishing connections within the industry ensures that graduates are thoroughly prepared to make meaningful impacts upon starting their careers in healthcare.
