TPCC President Revanth Reddy has demanded that the Telangana government should give a Group-I officer post to world boxing champion Nikhat Zareen before January 26.

He also demanded that the government should allot a place for Nikhat Zareen to establish a Sports Academy. Revanth said that sportsmanship is essential in politics too.

The Congress felicitated Nikhat Zareen at the Nizam Club on Sunday. TPCC President Revanth Reddy, TPCC Working Presidents Mohd. Azharuddin, B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, TPCC Treasurer P. Sudarshan Reddy, TPCC Campaign Committee Chairman Madhu Yashki Goud, TPCC PAC Member Shabbir Ali, Telangana Mahila Congress President Sunitha Rao and leaders Amer Javeed, Anil Kumar Yadav, Rohin Reddy and others attended the programme.

On the occasion, Revanth announced a gift of Rs 5 lakh for Nikhat Zareen. He said that they had announced the Rs 5 lakh to signal that the Congress is with her. He said the Congress organised the programme in Nizam Club to encourage sports.

Revanth praised the parents of Zareen for encouraging her although there is a general impression that boxing is a male sport. He suggested that Congress should organise another programme to facilitate Zareen in a grand manner and to inspire students to engage in sports.

Nikhat Zareen thanked Congress leaders and said that she is happy that Revanth had announced a gift of Rs 5 lakh to her. “We will use our talent to make the nation proud and to support all sportspersons,” Zareen said.
