GO soon to grant accreditation to eligible journalists: Minister

Minister for Information & Public Relations and Housing, Kolusu Parthasarathy, has announced that the Andhra Pradesh government will soon issue a Government Order (GO) to grant Accreditation Cards to all eligible journalists in the State. The work on finalising the GO has been completed.
A delegation from the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ), including president IV Subba Rao, vice-president K Jayaraju, State committee member Chava Ravi, Electronic Media Journalists Association State vice-president KV Suresh Kumar Reddy, and Indian Journalists Union (IJU) national secretary D Somasundar, met the Minister at the State Secretariat on Wednesday. Later, they also met the Minister’s office special officer, Prof. G Anitha.
During the discussions, the union leaders urged the Minister to remove the restrictive rules imposed by the previous government, which had reduced the number of accreditations. They requested the restoration of district-level accreditation committees with their previous discretionary powers and called for the prompt release of the GO. Parthasarathy responded positively, assuring the delegation that the government is committed to granting accreditations without unnecessary delays.
