‘Good news’ for TSRTC staff on January 31: Transport Min

Minister for Transport Ponnam Prabhakar said that the pending problems of TSRTC workers will be resolved soon and the government will give good news to the RTC workers on January 31. On Sunday, the minister handed over 45 compassionate appointments in Karimnagar and Khammam region at Karimnagar-2 depot.
Ponnam Prabhakar said, “In view of increased passengers of the Mahalakshmi scheme implementation, we are going to increase the number of buses and employees, and will run new routes. Steps are being taken to strengthen the RTC despite financial difficulties.”
Meanwhile, TSRTC Managing Director VC Sajjanar said that around 12 crore women have travelled in buses free of cost in the past 45 days after the launch of the Mahalakshmi scheme. He attended the 215th Louis Braille birth anniversary on Sunday, which was organised by the Blind Employees Association.
Sajjanar said that a few of the issues came to our notice, which are, after the Mahalakshmi scheme was launched, women are sitting in person with disability (PwD) seats. In all, 1,325 diesel and 1,050 electric buses will be made available in a phased manner. In addition to these, the corporation is planning to purchase more new buses. After this launch, the traffic would be easier.
The Mahalakshmi Scheme was launched on December 9. According to the RTC officials, daily around 27 lakh women are travelling in the buses.
