Minister for Energy Gottipati Ravi Kumar inaugurated a 4 Megawatt (MW) Solar Power Plant at Marella village in Mundlamuru mandal on Saturday. The plant, established on 18 acres of land, was completed within 80 days by the officials.
The solar plant has been connected to the Marella electric substation and will soon be linked to the grid.
In his address to the media, Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar highlighted the coalition government’s commitment to prioritising solar and wind energy under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu. He praised the establishment of the solar plant in the agricultural lands of Marella in Prakasam District as a commendable initiative.
He expressed his intention to develop more solar plants across the state, emphasising that solar power generation will reduce carbon emissions and improve environmental conditions. The Minister also noted that the Central government is supporting rural solar power projects through the PM Kusum scheme.
The Minister criticised the previous government for failing to generate an additional 100 MW of electricity, which led to significant public suffering due to unscheduled power cuts. He assured that measures have been taken to prevent power shortages, ensuring sufficient supply for both public and industrial needs.
Looking ahead, the Minister outlined plans to advance electricity generation through solar, wind, and waste management (PSP) plants. He stated that the government aims to position Andhra Pradesh as a leader in non-conventional power generation in the country. The event was attended by MLA Yeluru Sambashiva Rao, former MLA B Chenchu Garataiah, Darshi TDP in-charge Dr. Gottipati Lakshmi, and various engineers and officials.
