Governance should reflect public opinion: CM Naidu

Must read

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has emphasised the importance of governance driven by public opinion, urging officials to ensure their performance aligns with the expectations of the people. He stated that only by prioritising public feedback can the concept of “people’s governance” be truly realised.
During a review meeting on Real-Time Governance at the State Secretariat, the Chief Minister instructed officials to periodically collect public feedback on government schemes and programmes. He highlighted the need for continuous improvement based on these inputs and announced that a review meeting on Real-Time Governance will be held every Monday.
Naidu directed officials to use technology to gather public opinion. For instance, he proposed using IVRS to monitor the implementation of the free sand policy, with CC cameras at sand reaches and GPS tracking of vehicle movements. He also suggested installing QR codes in RTC buses, major temples, and hospitals to expedite feedback collection and improve services.
The QR codes in RTC buses would help assess punctuality, staff behaviour, and overall service quality. Similarly, QR codes in temples could provide insights into cleanliness, availability of amenities, queue management, and the quality of prasadam. Hospitals could use QR codes to evaluate the availability of doctors, provision of medicines, and maintenance of cleanliness.
Highlighting public health as a priority, Naidu noted a budget allocation of Rs 18,000 crore for the sector. He stressed the need to ensure effective services in hospitals and urged officials to gather feedback on road repair works undertaken with a budget of Rs 860 crore, with repairs already completed on 6,228 km of roads.
The Chief Minister also called for public opinion on the implementation of schemes like Deepam, grain procurement, and pension distribution. He instructed officials to take action against unauthorised belt shops operating in the state.
The exercise to identify government properties through GPS is nearing completion and will be finalised by January, officials informed. Naidu further emphasised the integration of drone services to support farmers, highlighting the need to save time and reduce costs.
The Chief Minister concluded by urging officials to adopt technology-driven auditing and prepare for faster governance in the New Year, ensuring a seamless blend of public feedback and technological innovation.
